As the PET bottles were smooth, they tended to stick together - so the function of the gate was to separate the row of bottles that was about to be swept by the dogchain from the rest of the bottles on the bed,. It worked very well, so we also used it for the HDPE bottles. The overall length is around 4.5m, and the width of the bed is I think 1200mm, with the widest part of the machine at about 1.8m.
