Ingenious design – the sanding unit
The heart of all our edge sanding machines is the sanding unit. It offers a range of intelligent functions and features. For example, in our machines, the sanding belt does not oscillate by tilting the belt rollers. Instead, the entire sanding unit moves up and down. The oscillation stroke, as well as the oscillation range, are easily set by pressing a button. Thanks to the flexible adjustment and the large oscillation stroke, sanding belts can be used optimally over their entire width, without laborious adjustment of the worktable height. The oscillation mechanism is driven by a separate motor.
The tilting of the sanding unit is also conveniently done using a rotary switch and with the help of its own motor. The unit can be tilted between 90° and 45°. Thanks to the well-thought-out pivoting mechanism, the full oscillation is always available and simultaneous sanding on both sides is possible. The different table heights of the front and rear sanding stations also ensure that the belt is not used at the same height at the same time. Furthermore, the combination of the pivoting mechanism and the different table heights ensures that the distance between the sanding unit and the worktable remains minimal at every angle of inclination.
Changing the belt is also quick and easy, taking only seconds.
The four sanding stations
1. Sanding station: "Veneer side"
The front sanding station is used for the precise calibration of materials and functions like a planing machine. The feed stop is adjusted using a rotary handle to set the material removal to within a tenth of a millimeter. Importantly, the stop is not tilted. The feed stop, sanding pad, and discharge stop are always parallel to each other. Rounding of workpieces is thus excluded. Fine adjustment of the sanding pad for grain compensation or setting to zero between stops and pad is possible via a handwheel. The massive worktable is fitted with sliding pads on this side.
2. Sanding station "Solid wood side"
This station is ideal for sanding flat, angled, chamfered, or externally rounded workpieces. Again, the entire sanding unit oscillates. The belt runs across its entire width on a graphite surface that keeps it cool. On the solid wood side, there is also a mitre stop.
