The root cause has not been determined, but the issue appears to be associated with the X-axis motion control system. Potential areas for investigation include the servo amplifier (drive), encoder, encoder cable or other associated motion control components. Despite this intermittent behaviour, the machine was used in active production of complex PCB assemblies, including fine-pitch BGA boards, for approximately 12 months prior to being replaced as part of an equipment upgrade.
